What to Pack for Georgia: A Packing List for Every Season

A well-packed suitcase is half the success of a trip. Georgia is a country of variety: on a single trip you might find yourself on the beach, in the mountains and on city streets. Here’s what you’ll definitely need.
Documents and money. Citizens of most CIS and EU countries don’t need a visa. Bring cash in the local currency (lari) — cards aren’t accepted in mountain villages. Bank of Georgia ATMs give the best rate.
Clothing. For Batumi in summer: swimwear, a light dress or shorts, and something smarter for restaurants. For the mountains: hiking boots (a must!), a warm layer (fleece) and a raincoat. Orthodox churches require covered shoulders and legs, so bring a light scarf.
First aid and other essentials. Sunscreen, insect repellent for mountain trails, motion sickness pills (mountain roads are full of hairpin bends). A European plug adapter (type C/F). A power bank — mobile signal in the mountains is patchy.
And most importantly: leave room in your suitcase for homemade wine, chacha and churchkhela — nobody leaves Georgia without them.
Now just pick a tour. Every one includes a transfer from Batumi and a certified guide.
