Batumi City Guide: What to See in 2 Days

Batumi is a city of contrasts: futuristic skyscrapers stand next to the cozy lanes of the Old Town, and the buzz of the casinos never spoils a morning coffee in a quiet courtyard. Two days are enough to see the highlights.
Day one. Start with Batumi Boulevard — 6 km along the Black Sea. Walk to the Medea fountain and go up the Alphabetic Tower for the panorama. Have lunch in the Old Town and try Adjarian khachapuri — a bread boat with egg and butter. In the evening, head to Piazza Square and the waterfront with its musical light fountains.
Day two. In the morning, the Botanical Garden (one of the largest in Europe). After lunch, a trip to the mountain village of Makhuntseti: a waterfall and Queen Tamar’s medieval bridge. Be back by sunset, when Batumi turns golden.
Practical tips: it’s best to book a hotel near the Boulevard or in the Old Town. Get around by taxi or on foot — everything is close. Don’t forget to try churchkhela and Adjarian wine.
Our Mountain Adjara tour includes Makhuntseti Waterfall, Gvara Fortress and wine tasting. From 35 € per person.
