Batumi is a city of contrasts: futuristic skyscrapers stand beside cobblestone old-town lanes, and the buzz of casinos gives way to quiet courtyard cafés. Two days is enough to see the highlights.
Day one. Start with the Batumi Boulevard — 6 km along the Black Sea shore. Walk to the Medea fountain and take the lift up the Alphabet Tower for panoramic views. Lunch in the old town: order an Adjarian khachapuri, the iconic bread boat filled with egg and butter. Evening: Piazza Square and the musical fountain show on the seafront.
Day two. Morning at the Botanical Garden (one of the largest in Europe). After lunch, a short trip to the mountain village of Makhuntseti: a waterfall and the medieval Queen Tamar bridge. Return at sunset when Batumi glows golden.
Practical tips: book a hotel near the boulevard or in the old town. Everything is walkable. Do not leave without trying churchkhela and local Adjarian wine.
