Bakhmaro is a day in the mountains of Guria at around 2,000 metres, where the sea air meets the mountain breeze. Breathing here is effortless; even in summer there is a freshness in the air, and the road gradually takes you from the familiar coastline into a very different Georgia: green slopes, open panoramas, a cool wind and a feeling of real freedom.
The landscapes of Bakhmaro are unmistakable: broad meadows, gentle mountain ridges and patches of snow on the slopes that can remain even in the warm season. In spring and early summer these places are especially beautiful — the fields bloom with flowers and the scenery is worth photographing at every bend.
This is not just a trip to "see the mountains". The route includes the old tea heritage of Guria, a 9th-century monastery, the healing waters of Nabeglavi, an optional tasting of traditional Georgian distillates, and the highlight — a barbecue picnic among the open panoramas of Bakhmaro. A calm, beautiful and very atmospheric day.
